Thrift Japan helps visitors and residents find second-hand chain stores across Japan, from BOOKOFF and HARD OFF to 2nd STREET, Surugaya and Mandarake. It's a free, independent site and isn't connected with any of the chains it lists.
It's made by the creator of the Tabi Phrasebook, a free Japanese phrasebook for travellers.
Store locations, names, addresses and opening hours come from OpenStreetMap, a free map of the world made by volunteers, and are used under the Open Database Licence. We update the list regularly. The last update was on 2026-11-07.
OpenStreetMap covers most branches but not all, and details can go out of date. Before making a special trip, check the store's own website or Google Maps. If you spot a mistake, you can fix it directly on OpenStreetMap, and the change will appear here after our next update.
